50th Anniversary Tour For The Rolling Stones?

Perhaps the most famous band in the world, The Rolling Stones have hinted that they might be venturing out on a tour to mark the 50th anniversary of their debut gig. They might be getting older, but they still have the gift and talent of rock, and it seems they will be taking advantage of it as long as possible. Excited? Read on.

The Rolling Stones were formed in London, England in 1962, meaning the 50th anniversary will happen next year. Though the band have been through rough times and member changes like any other band, being together for five decades is such a huge accomplishment that 90% of bands will never reach. I think they should celebrate with a special tour, as their fans have been a huge part of their longevity and success.

Guitarist Keith Richards, who has been with the band since day one, made a statement to USA Today about the possibility of a tour, according to Popeater:

Something’s blowing in the wind, he said. The idea’s there. We kind of know we should do it, but nobody’s put their finger on the moment yet. This is what we have to ask each other: Do we want to go out in a blaze of glory? We can, if Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts feel like I do, that we can still turn people on. We don’t have to prove nothing anymore. I just love playing, and I miss the crowd.

Right now, the idea is just in the works. Nothing has been set in stone (get it? Haha) yet, but as more news progresses we’ll be sure to keep you updated. However, something else is definitely happening for the band:

Fans of the band will be delighted to hear that a re-issue of 1978′s ‘Some Girls’ similar to 2010′s ‘Exile On Main Street’ set is in the works. Containing hits such as ‘Miss You’ and ‘Beast of Burden,’ the album is widely acknowledged to be the Rolling Stones’ last true masterpiece.

How do feel about a potential Stones tour? How far would you go to see them?
