If you thought this morning was messy get ready because it's about to get real snowy.

It was only a matter of time really until the snow started here in the Capital Region and with our first real snowfall this morning the roadways were an absolute mess. Well, now we have a little time to prepare for what looks to be like the first real accumulation that is projected to fall this week.

WNYT has reported that early estimates are calling for 4 to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall in the Capital Region by Friday morning with significantly more in the higher elevations. The snow comes after a cold front rolls through that could bring record setting low temperatures where most locations will have readings between 10 and 15 degrees by Thursday morning.

Look, I know we all live in the north east and snow and cold temperatures are to be expected but the first of the year always comes with and adjustment period. So tonight break out the coats, hats, gloves, boots, and snow brush. Try to get some rest so you can get up early and make time for the weather (warm and brush off the car) and give yourself some extra time for your morning commute.

Welcome to winter and stay safe out there!
