Lego Tower
No Syndication France Or Germany 1/19/98 Sydney, Australia. Picture Shows: Lego Tower And Builders. The Final Bricks Were Placed Atop The Spire Of The World’S Tallest Lego Tower On Monday (19/1), Adding A New Dimension To Sydney, Australia’S Skyline. Under The Watchful Eyes Of Two Danish Lego Engineering Experts, Sydney Children Built Their Own Colourful Cornices To Add To The Tower During The Last Few Days. Early On Monday, A Mechanical Arm Took Two Of The Builders Up To The Peak Of The Structure To Install The Last Of The Famous Interlocking Plastic Bricks And An Australian Flag. The Tapering Tower Consists Of About 380,000 Individual Lego Bricks Measuring 24.3 Metres (75 Feet) High — Tall Enough For The Spire To Require Guy Ropes For Extra Support. The Tower Was Built To Aid Life Education, An Australian Drug Education Charity, With More Than Australian Dollars 20,000 Donated To The Cause. Construction Organisers Accept That Their Record Probably Won’T Last Long. Other Countries Are Already Planning Their Own Plastic High-Rise Challenges. (Photo By Getty Images)
