It was on this day 34 years ago today (March 19, 1982) that the world lost guitar great Randy Rhoads at the age of 25.

Randy Rhoads died in a plane accident while on tour with Ozzy Osbourne in Florida. Before joining Ozzy, Rhoads was a member of Quiet Riot which he co-founded at the age of 16. He would eventually be responsible for helping Ozzy get his solo career going in the early 80’s, playing on classic albums like ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ and ‘Diary of a Madman’. Despite his short career, Rhoads legacy lives on in his music. He has been cited as an influence by many guitarists, and is considered among one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

A new Rhoads tribute album was released in 2015. Rhoads has been cited as an influence by many guitarists, and is considered among one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
